  History

Long ago, during the reign of the monarch, Frederic Joseph, there lived an outstanding professional butcher, named Zsigmond PETRY, being a lineal descent of a citizen from the old place of Tîrgu – Mureş, who together with his son, put into operation the first plant of “ Salami and Sausages ” in 1879. Due to the more and more increasing variety of the large assortments of meat, being characterized by the traditional Hungarian flavours, known by those times, aroused the interest of great many of customers.
By the end of the World War I., when a new political regime came into being, the PETRY family succeeded to remain, steadily, on their own market place. They all continued to develop and modernize their working up and processing methods, while the horse-drawn carts were changed with motor cars and, soon, the new flavours of meat products gained the tastes of buyers who could do their shopping in some other “ PETRY ” shops, being newly - opened both in Tîrgu – Mureş and Cluj towns.
However, the prosperous family business had to get to its end by June of 1948 when the communist nationalization was over. The collective labour morality, based on the theory of class battle, that dominated all branches of the economy, almost throughout a half century, showed no considerations for the spiritual and professional values gained during decades and even tried to destroy them all, for ever.
Then,  an other change of the regime brought by the year of 1989, gave the PETRY familly a new chance, a new opportunity to re-start their meat business. By that time, PETRY András (Andrew PETRY), was already an aged man, who had not any wealth because all his properties had been nationalized, together with his two sons Péter (Peter) and Zalán Endre, tried to rely only on their own energy and working experience, set up in April of 1990 a new commercial society, known under the name of the “ PRIMACOM ” firm. They opened their new meat processing workshop and also a shop for selling the rich variety of rare meat products. Soon after this, they succeeded to open some other meat shops in different districts of Tîrgu-Mureş town satisfying every demands and requirements, namely: in 1992 on the Stone Hill (“ Kövesdomb “), in 1994 on the Rose Square (“ Rózsák tere “), and in 2001 in the downtown market place. Between the years of 2001-2003, they opened two shops in the town of Odorheiu Secuiesc (Székelyudvarhely), one for wholesale or “en gross” trading and the other for detailed trading. Recently, in 2004 it was inaugurated a new shop of theirs in the Tudor-district, in which exclusively Petry-made meat products and sausages have been sold, being obtained by their own capital funds.
This is the way how the “New Taste of Tradition” could become well-known, whose continuity has been secured by the newly-built large-scale industrial slaughter-house and processing workshop, being raised up, in the meantime, between the years of 1994-1996.
The popularity, the ever increasing buyer’s demands for the greater variety of meat products and sausages, at present, being over of one hundred types, can be explained by the existence of their up-to-date technical equipments, by their professionally well-prepared workers, by their respect of the strict hygienic rules, by the use of their rich experience, gained during old times and by the apply of their good quality policy.
The PETRY family have got the pretensions to a continuous modernity and quality, being proved by the fact that they could win the pecuniary supports given by the PHARE- and SAPARD- programs and due to those supports there were possible to improve their production capacity and accomplish a higher modernization.
